Usage of polymer modified bitumens and rejuvenators in asphalt mixtures
Maláník, Stanislav ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Dašek, Ondřej (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with the influence of various dosing of Reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) using modified bitumen on the properties of asphalt concrete (ACO 11+) of cemented by polymer modified bitumen, while a rejuvenating agents are added into asphalt mixtures. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the basic knowledge of pavement recycling, polymer modified bitumens and their reuse in asphalt mixtures. The practical part deals with laboratory tests of ACO 11+ mixtures with the RAP proportion of 0 % to 50 %. The asphalt mixtures compared are evaluated by means of the Thermal Stress Restrained Specimen Test (TSRST) and Stiffness test. The results obtained within the diploma thesis can approximate the issue of recycling of asphalt mixtures with polymer modified bitumens.
Influence of aged bituminous binder on the properties of polymer modified bitumens
Pecha, Marek ; Koudelka, Tomáš (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with problematics of polymer modified binders specially designed for production of asphalt mixtures containing Reclaimed Asphalt. These polymer modified binders are referred to in the literature as PMB RC (polymer modified bitumen for recycling). The first part of the thesis is focused on obtaining different types of PMB RC from various european producers. These binders were subsequently tested using empirical tests of asphalt binders for the classification purposes according to ČSN EN 14023. In the next part of the thesis the influence of the addition of aged asphalt binder on the properties of individual PMB RC was assessed. Mixing of binders was done to simulate the production of asphalt mixture in a mixing plant, where the binder of the Reclaimed Asphalt and the freshly added binder are mixed together. An assessment of the effect of the aged binder on PMB RC behavior was also carried out using conventional asphalt binder tests.
Using Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement in High Modulus Asphalt Mixture for Binder Asphalt Courses
Klimek, Matěj ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Šperka, Pavel (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with design of high modulus asphalt mixture with using 30 % reclaimed asphalt pavement in combination with polymer modified bitumen. The goal of this thesis is to verify if the mixture reaches the requirements of technical regulations TP 151 [1]. Selected tests were performer in accordance with the European standards ČSN EN 12697 Bituminous mixtures – Test methods for hot asphalt mixtures. Theoretical part of my thesis is focused on possibilities of addition higher amounts of reclaimed asphalt pavement into asphalt mixtures.
Usage of reclaimed asphalt pavement in stone mastic asphalt
Coufalíková, Iva ; Katarína, Bačová (referee) ; Fišer,, Jiří (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
The dissertation deals with the possibilities of adding recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) to the stone mastic asphalt (SMA), which is increasingly being promoted due to its good resistance to permanent deformations and high traffic load. Thanks to the use of high-quality input materials in production, this is a valuable material source. The theoretical part describes composition of SMA mixture and problems of pavement recycling. The practical part deals with SMA 11S laboratory designs with RAP ratio of 0 to 50%. Based on these suggestions, a trial section with 17 variants was placed, which varied with the content and quality of the RAP and the used additives. All variants have been subjected to functional testing not only on mixtures but also on recovered binders. The results obtained during the dissertation were used to build a certified methodology named "Methodology of application RAP to Stone Mastic Asphalt." In conclusion, the results of the dissertation are summarized.
Dynamic viscosity of asphalt binders
Broďák, Marek ; Coufalík, Pavel (referee) ; Dašek, Ondřej (advisor)
The bachelor thesis describes a laboratory characteristics of bituminous binders. The principle, procedure of meansurment and comparison of test results of dynamic viscosity, needle penetration and softening point by ring and ball method will be described. The tests will be performed on samples of the bituminous binders with different degree of modification.
Evaluation of properties of PMB containing binder from RAP
Měšťanová, Petra ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Dašek, Ondřej (advisor)
Subject of this diploma thesis is to describe the effect of adding different amount of aged binder recovered from RAP on the change of properties of polymer modified bitumen. The RAP containing unmodified bitumen and the RAP where we can expect bitumen modification are used to recover binder. The binder obtained from RAP is dosed into the virgin binder in amount of 15 %, 30 % and 50 %. The methods of recycling of flexible pavements, extraction and regeneration of asphalt binders, rejuvenating of their properties and methods of empirical and functional laboratory tests are described in the theoretical part. The practical part deals with evaluating and comparison of the results mixed binders properties.
Rheological properties of binders
Hotař, Petr ; Fišer,, Jiří (referee) ; Kudrna, Jan (advisor)
The comparison of rheological properties (complex shear modulus and phase angle and dynamic viscosity) of four paving bitumens and two polymer modified bitumens is performed in this diploma thesis. Furthermore, the empirical tests (needle penetration and softening point) were determined on these binders. Effect of asphalt binders aging was modeled using RTFOT test and modified RTFOT test (3 x RTFOT).
Influence of polymer modified bitumens storage on their properties
Měšťanová, Petra ; Fišer,, Jiří (referee) ; Dašek, Ondřej (advisor)
Subject of this bachelor’s thesis is to describe the influence of long-term storage of polymer modified bitumen at temperature of 180 °C on their properties. The principle of binder modification and test procedure of needle penetration, softening point, elastic recovery and dynamic viscosity in DSR will be explained in the theoretical part. The properties changes of five tested modified binders during storage will be evaluated and compared in the practical part.
Low-temperature behavior of asphalt binders
Čumíčková, Markéta ; Šperka, Pavel (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
The work is focused on low-temperature behavior of specimens of asphalt binders and polymer modified bitumens. In the theoretical part, the principles and procedures of tests are simply described: Needle Penetration, Softening Point, Bending Beam Rheometer and Fraass breaking point. In the practical part, results of tests are demonstrated to graphs. The aim of thesis is to determine the correlation between tests.
PmB - Polymer modified bitumens
Venclíková, Michaela ; Dašek, Ondřej (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
In this bachelor thesis, there are described modified bitumens. The issue of modified bitumens will be explained in the theoretical part. In the practical part, it will be prepared set of modified bituminous binders with different degree of modification. Basic empirical testing and functional testing will be determined. The aim of thesis is to find the optimal source of unmodified bitumen for modification.
